Write for us
Clear World Briefing welcomes pitches that help general readers understand a specific geographic idea, place or representation. Send proposals through the Contact page rather than submitting a full article without agreement.
What we welcome
Pitch clear, evergreen pieces about landforms, map reading, climate patterns, borders or the connections between places. Useful approaches include explaining a term, comparing two representations, tracing a geographic idea through time or showing readers what to notice on a map. We do not commission professional advice or claims that require readers to act on local rules.
A useful pitch
Tell us the central question, the answer or insight you expect readers to take away, and why the subject suits Clear World Briefing. Include a short outline, the material you would consult and any relevant experience. Keep the proposal focused enough that its scope and limits are easy to see.
Sending a proposal
Use the Contact page and select the editorial question option, then identify your message as a pitch. Please do not send confidential material or a complete draft unless requested. A proposal is not a promise of publication, and we may ask for a narrower angle.
Geography starts with looking closely
A map is a useful beginning, not the whole place. We connect its lines and labels to the landscape and human choices they represent.
